The most annoying things I have heard from hypocrites since 2011......... 1. Singapore Belongs to Everyone. 2. (on Flooding) Once in 50 years event. 3. How much do you want? Do you want three meals in a hawker centre, food court or restaurant? 4. “(For example,) you go to Peach Garden, you eat the S$10 XO Sauce chye tow kuay (fried carrot cake), you can be quite happy right? Because you are satisfied with the service and so on. On the other hand, you can go to a hawker centre, even if they charge you S$1.50, you might not want to eat it if the quality is not good.” 5. “We should make a stand to say no to such bigotry. They do not reflect who we are as a people and as a nation.” 6. Affordable (Everything seems to be affordable when there is clearly inflation happening every month!) 7. We have to call a spade a spade. If we have changed position and your previous position was wrong, say so. If you hold by your position, have your guts to reaffirm it and take the consequences. But to weasel away, play with words, avoid the issue and then claim to be responsible, that is what we fear can drive Singapore’s politics into the same place where many other countries have gone. 8. We are small, we are not as poor as we used to be, we are not defenseless, we are able to fend for ourselves and to make a living for ourselves, and we are better off than before, and I think that we need to keep on working hard, to continue improving. As to what might be a more appropriate metaphor, I think we have upgraded our sampan. Its sampan 2.0. 9. “If you’re the best today, strive to be better. If you’re better today, strive to be ‘betterer’ and if you’re ‘betterer’ today, strive to be ‘betterest’ so that over time, Singapore’s service standards can just keep getting better, ‘betterer’ and ‘betterest’ What is the most annoying statement you have heard?
