For optimally healthy corals Nitrates and Phosphates must be kept to an absolute minimum (undetectable levels are ideal). 2. Regular water changes replenish alkalinity, calcium as well as various other trace elements such as iodine, strontium, iron. - All of which are vital for thriving corals. 3.
