The most frustrating part of George Osbornes plan outlined today - TopicsExpress

The most frustrating part of George Osbornes plan outlined today was the continued insistence that OAPs shouldnt have to shoulder the burden of the deficit. Surely no forward thinking society should be putting the future of the old ahead of the future of the young? Such an approach negates any talk about sharing the burden Im not saying that poor pensioners should be targeted, but surely it is grossly unfair that those who have retired and are living in comfort continue to receive universal benefits (such as winter fuel allowance, TV licences and bus passes etc which they could comfortably afford) when equivalent provision for the young is being cut? The reason for this is the continuing apathy of the young in elections. Because they dont vote, their voice doesnt get heard, whereas pensioners always vote, and always get listened to.
