The most inspiring thing I find with yoga is exploring my limits - this 12 months ago would have been near impossible. In doing something like this it makes you push past all that self doubt. Normally I just muck around until I find a cool flow that gets my heart rate up and opens my body. This definitely requires persistence, enormous strength in the standing leg with balance and control. It is AH- mazing for thigh and butt toning. Doing this posture around 30 times means my butt was super sore last night. I always start with a sun salutation series to begin any practice if Im just working on a certain pose Ive seen and I work and work until Ive twisted and turned and stretched through experimenting. Im totally self taught so its all about challenging myself to go on adventure with my patience and endurance. Ive always had natural strength, yet I still find a posture or a sequence every day to challenge me. I am constantly working on lengthening my shoulders, chest and hamstrings to really express the poses eloquently....because erm Im not all that eloquent you could say ha ha. So if your someone who looks at all these yogis and thinks that you couldnt do it - think again, 18 months ago I was tin man - and still have a loooooong way to go!
