The most intriguing proposal in President Obamas speech last night is the idea of tuition-free community college. Of course this isnt a new idea at all. It certainly isnt an original idea so in all fairness, Ive thought about this proposal not as an Obama idea nor his argument that this should be done at the expense of the successful. Rather Ive thought about this idea in todays realty. Because if tuition-free community college has merit; then it would have to be fulfilled by the rate at which people finish a community college program of study or of advanced training. And quite frankly, based on Census data; society isnt ready for tuition-free community college. Much is still needed to make sure our high school graduates have guidance in their young lives to pursue and complete advanced education that fits their needs as well as having an advanced education that is in demand in todays workplace.
