The most personal song Ive ever written. Age is a scary thing. - TopicsExpress

The most personal song Ive ever written. Age is a scary thing. Youve all heard me talk about my Dad for years. An Army Soldier. A bad ass. The leader of our family. Greased-stained, calloused hands from years of manual labor. Relentless & tireless provider for my mom, my brothers, and I. So much of that has changed. When I visit my pops now, hes a much more fragile man. Hell still work around the clock because hes more stubborn than anyone Ive ever met. But his mind has changed. Dementia is a terrifying thing to watch. When I visit now, hell tell me the same story 3 times in one day. His recent memory is all but gone. His past memory is more clear than ever. When I visited him a couple of years ago, I went home and wrote lyrics to a song. We just turned those lyrics into our newest song. Most of these words are those lyrics. Ive only publicly sang these words once... and I dont know if I can sing them many more. But, the message and the song are too important NOT to share. HUGE HUGE thanks to my brothers Brian B-Dubbs Walsh & Adam Wood for writing this song with me. As a singer/songwriter/artist, this will always be one of my proudest accomplishments. For those of you who know someone with Dimentia/Alzheimers... the easiest and the best thing to do... is just LOVE them... as hard as you know how to love. I hope you all enjoy The Way I Used To Be reverbnation/jbandthetailgaters/song/22383468-the-way-i-used-to-be
