The most prestigious State Bar Council election will be held on 23rd Nov. 2013 all over odisha to elect bar council members ,all total 78 candidates have filed nomination from different parts of the state. This election is considered as important as the General Election, because the state is going to elect its legal pressure hubs to the most prestigious lawyer’s body, i.e., the Odisha State Bar Council and Bar Council of India. Young as well as experienced lawyers from different corners of the state are contesting .Overwhelming excitement among the lawyers is seen as they extend their own perception, views and support to make their candidates lead the scenario. They highlighted the problems faced by the lawyer’s in the state and demand special attention. All the candidates came out for campaign through social networking, SMS using new generation media. More than 46 thousands lawyers from different bar association within odisha will cast their preferential vote for their candidates in order on the basis of preferential voting . The judges will serve as the presiding officers in this voting at the respective courts turned as election booths. From among the contestants 25 candidates with higher preferential votes will be declared elected to the council. These elected members will then elect one from them as the Chairman and one as Vice chairman. Similarly one from them will be elected to the Bar Council of India as Member. They will serve for the next five years as the office bearers of the state bar council as per norm. But , we have to select the right persons who will look into the total welfare of the state Bar council members.
