The most unwarranted developments resulting from interstate border dispute between Assam and Nagaland has raised a very serious question about capability of both the Union Government and the concerned states in resolving such issues by political deliberations and exchange of mutual views. Precious lives are lost in regular intervals on this issue and it is absolutely unrealistic in part of administrative highhandedness to attempt suppressing public anger by application of Police force. The mindless blame games must stop right now and a time-bound dialogue process must begin among all stakeholders to settle the dispute for once and all. Novice, armature politicians must refrain from issuing aimless statements to aggravate the matter further to the detriment of the nation but engage in interacting with people as primary confidence building measure. The federal structure of the nation as enshrined in our constitution must not be allowed to wane away owing to indifferent and inept political handling of such situations.
