The mournful notes of Karwani Shahidan play again, this time for the memory of peshmerga Faheer Barwari, a veteran of years of demining operations to reduce the threat of the estimated 7 million mines sown into Kurdish soil during Saddam Husseins genocidal Anfal Operation in 1987-1988. Kak Faheer previously lost two legs while conducting those demining activities, yet he continued to bravely serve as a peshmerga until today, when he sadly lost his life clearing mines in Zumar. Recall, the peshmerga recently seized Zumar and other villages from ISIS, and as ISIS has been losing the initiative to increasingly effective peshmerga operations against them, ISIS has been forced to modify its tactics. Specifically, they have increased their use of IED and have been heavily booby-trapping the areas from which they are forced to retreat...including the booby-trapping of bodies left on the battlefield. On this Veterans Day it is especially appropriate to salute the brave and selfless martyr, Faheer Barwari, and to all other veterans of our ongoing war against jihadist terror groups. https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t34.0-12/10811696_996892080326346_366698842_n.jpg?oh=5130b276dc153468fdda249d23e83287&oe=54640199&__gda__=1415858564_dfdfad581ef6c4d0e5a6bc824f38b4d3
