The movie is 18 years old...the reference referred to in the joke is about 22 years old. Marvin may have said it, and many others as well but most of us know where the designers of this placard got the idea. And a meme (rhymes with gene!) is a social gene and these Internet memes are pale wannabes. One can not create a meme. It sets over time and space. Beam me up Scotty and most especially Spock are true memes. In broad usage biologist and my hero Richard Dawkins proposed them in his groundbreaking book The Selfish Gene in the seventies by which time the two I cited had already become memes.
