The mud slinging has started. The below comment was posted to the Aegis article regarding my re-election campaign to the school board. HarCoparent - Perhaps Frisch should run for Baltimore County School Board. He was a Baltimore City police officer and taught Social Studies in Baltimore County. His own children did not go to high school in the county. He doesnt even attend church in the county. He says he has a vested interest in the education provided to students in Harford County. But does he, really? My response - HarCoparent, Sixty percent of Harford County workers commute elsewhere for work. Several of our current elected officials, including other school board members, and candidates also work outside of Harford County. I do not believe this creates an obstacle to them performing their responsibilities or desire to serve our citizens. I have been retired for two years which allows me ample time to devote to my responsibilities as a school board member. As a 50 year resident of Harford County I do have a vested interest in the quality of life in our community including our school system. My first grandchild will enter our school system next year so I have every reason to do all within my power to see that we have a quality school system which will allow him and every other student the opportunity to receive a quality education. I didnt know that attending a church just over the Baltimore County line should exclude one from school board membership. My church provides many services and supports to the less fortunate in Harford County and we are partnered with a Harford County elementary school to provide mentoring and supplies to needy students. I believe a candidates children should be off limits during a political campaign. But as you brought it up my children did attend Harford County public school through middle school when my wife and I, guided by our faith, decided we wanted a religious component to their education. I cast no aspersions on parents who make decisions they believe are in the best interest of their children and families. Whether public, parochial, or home schooling, this does not bother me. My only concern would be that these children are getting the education they need and deserve. The delivery system of that education is a parental choice that I respect. I am more than willing to run on my record and discuss issues that really matter when it comes to the school board and I trust that the voters will look at that when they decide for whom to vote and not the items you raise which have nothing to do with my qualifications to hold office or the many important matters that truly deserve our attention over the next four years. I will pray for you.
