The museum’s 1905 Albright Building has changed quite a bit over the years. When the building was opened in May 1905, the eastern façade featured symmetrical wooden porches on either side of the colonnade, as well as a set of four placement sculptures on each side. The sculptures were commissioned by John J. Albright as part of the building’s original design and completed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens between 1906 and 1907. However, due to a lack of funding, a few months after the opening, the porches and placement sculptures were removed. After the museum raised enough money for their final purchase, the sculptures become part of the museum’s Collection in 1933 and were installed on June 5, 1934. #transformationtuesday ow.ly/wi9MU
