The music industry is dead. My favorite rappers are dead and most - TopicsExpress

The music industry is dead. My favorite rappers are dead and most of those who managed to stay alive are bankrupt and barely making ends meet. Not a single rappers album went platinum last year while more and more lackluster, hate filled, gang motivated music is being promoted to society. As time goes on it seems that there is little hope for guys like us, out here sticking to our New York roots of soul motivated hiphop. With little support from my community, it seems that I will never have a career in music. But the fact of the matter is, I do this because I love it, not because I need to impress you or anybody else on this planet. Becoming a famous artist is a dream, yes but that is not the motivation for me. I do this because it makes me feel good, it makes me genuinely happy. I am unhappy with todays situation though because music today is influenced by money and the only thing selling right now is music promoting violence, drug use and distribution and basically money itself. Just know that this is a false image and if the many deaths of Chicagos rappers who were promoting this music havent been an eye opener to those who wish to rap about this life without considering the consequences, know that you reap what you sow. If it were up to me, Id bring us back to a time when positivity was on the rise, when there was unity and love for one another. Id bring us back to a time when BDK stood for Big Daddy Kane not Black Disciple Killer... To each and every artist out there, you must realize how powerful your impact on the youth is. There is a reason those in power fear artists. We have more of an impact on society than there politicians. And to you youngins who wish to be an artist, make sure that you come from the heart and make the music you want to make, not music that you think others want to hear or will make you money. Much love to everybody out there keeping it righteous. Happy new year, now lets make it the best year music has ever seen.
