The music is hot at Rumours – especially on Wednesday nights when the Battle 4 Rumours takes centre stage. On July 16 the following bands are in action – Esdormingo / Rex Ruther and the Unnamed / ‘Defy Theory This year’s event is sponsored by Music Connection and Atelier Studios and not the event not only creates platforms for bands but also offers bands some awesome prizes. 20:30 Rex Ruther and the Unnamed 21:15 Esdormingo 22:00 Defy Theory Cover charge is R40. Music Connection is also sponsoring a R500 music voucher prize to the band that brings the most fans on the night to support them. To qualify for the Music Connection Voucher bands have to have a minimum of 20 fans through the door – then the band with the most fans wins the cash bonus. Bands that have 20 or more fans through the door on the night also score full points for marketing. Panel of judges score the bands and each band gets their score sheet with constructive feedback on the night. An added bonus is that Fred, the owner of Rumours will be choosing bands from these this event to open for big named bands playing at Rumours during the year. It is his prerogative to add support bands to big named bands playing at the venue. He recently chose one of the bands to from this event to open for Van Coke and the band as a result received media coverage in one of the national daily newspapers. Two other bands have also been chosen to support bigger named bands so once again this event creates platforms for bands to further themselves. With over R200 000 worth of prizes on offer for the winning band and weekly music vouchers for bands at this years Battle 4 Rumours fans can be guaranteed of hearing great music every Wednesday night at Rumours. Music Connection is sponsoring a top of range backline for the winning band in December and Atelier Studios is sponsoring a 12 track recording.
