The mysterious carved stones in Patagonia ¿Phoenicians and Templars in the Chubut? stones carved with figures of medieval appearance and suggestive ancient Aramaic script that were found in various places on the coast and along the main river of the province of Chubut Argentina, during the last century. Some of them are part of the collection of the Regional Museum which is located inside the Salesian school in the city of Rawson. The museum is closed to the public today. Some of the pieces were taken from ancient Indian chenques and others came to light during excavations for the construction of a pipeline. The figures carved on their -corazones surfaces, chalices, arrowheads, snakes, turtles, soles and sides of indigenous -diferencian these stones other manifestations of rock art in Argentina. Aramaic, precursor of all Semitic languages, was the lingua franca of the Middle East until its replacement by Arabic in the ninth century AD, when Islam became the dominant religion in the region.
