The name ‘Ahmad’ has been mentioned once in the Quran Chapter Al-Saff 61: 6 - And of Jesus son of Mary, who said to the Israelites: ‘I am sent forth to you from God to confirm the Torah already revealed, and to give news of an apostle that will come after me whoses name is Ahmad.‘ Yet when he brought them conspicuous signs, they said: ‘This is plain sorcery.” WHAT IS THE MEANING OF AHMAD? Ahmad simply means to praise one, one who praises God, to possess a praiseworthy quality, a quality for which one is praised. It also means to speak well of one, to commend one or to speak of one with official sanction. The Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said unto you. [Bible - John 14:26] The chief priests and Levites asked John the Baptist, If you are not the Christ (Messiah), and not Elijah - are you THAT Prophet? [Bible - John 1:20] Who was THAT PROPHET? Another nick name of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), mentioned in the Bible (or at least what is left of it in the English language) is The Spirit of Truth. As-Saddiq means exactly that and it was another name given to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), by those who knew his proclivity for honesty and integrity.
