The name of Jesus The field is the world, and the good seed - TopicsExpress

The name of Jesus The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one” – Matthew 13:38 In 1999, the town of Greece, New York, a town near Rochester, started each Town Board public meetings with a prayer from a “chaplain of the month.” Town officials said that members of all faiths, and atheists, were welcome to give the opening prayer. Many of the chaplains were Christian. And “Roughly two-thirds contained references to ‘Jesus Christ,’ ‘Jesus,’ ‘Your Son’ or the ‘Holy Spirit.’” Two town residents sued, saying the prayers ran foul of the First Amendment’s prohibition of the government establishment of religion. The case went through the court system until it reached the U.S. Supreme Court. The highest court ruled that explicitly Christian prayers at government meetings do not violate the establishment clause of the First Amendment. Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote for the majority: “Once it invites prayer into the public sphere, government must permit a prayer giver to address his or her own God or gods as conscience dictates, unfettered by what an administrator or judge considers to be nonsectarian.” No other name has aroused such passion as that of Jesus. Today in prayer, praise the Lord that in Jesus Christ we have eternal life and may your faith in Christ bring hope to a lost world. There is a continual conflict between Gods people and Evil: Heaven and hell can never be reconciled, no more can Satan and a sanctified soul.
