The name of Siyanda District to ZF Mgcwa Disrict Municipality. The late Zwelentlanga “fatman” Mgcawu is remembered by most as a hard worker and someone who found his purpose to be that of serving his community and an active political pioneer in the struggle of Apartheid. Described by the Mayor, Sir Gift van Standen; a dedicated being, who was always in leadership positions for his vivid discipline and passion for community development. It is a wish of the Municipal organs that society should not regard the name change as a mere “money wasting act”. But recognize it as justice being served to those who were never recognized in the then Apartheid era. Its believed that heroes should be honored and recognized. The Mayor also stretched that Mr.Mgcwa was one of those leaders who had left a legacy that today should be embraced by the youth. He was one leader who always made sure to be heard and that is signified by the face in the logo. This should be seen as a phase of recognition and reconciliation. And the names ZF Mgcwa clearly reflect those who live in it. It was an honor to be at the event. The Logo signifies a powerful massage, and with that I hope it also gives birth to a young, vocal and youth who finds pride and purpose in the development of them, their neighbors and others.
