The natural calamity in the form of flash flood due to incessant - TopicsExpress

The natural calamity in the form of flash flood due to incessant rains in J&K was no less to Kedarnath tragedy of June 2013, if compared. The difference is that most parts of Jammu and Valley including state capital Srinagar, were inundated due to the plain nature of landmass, whereas in Uttarakhand due to steep gorges and sharp slopes, land erosion, slides and dashing of buildings into grounds were the main features of destruction. Therefore magnitude of destruction as well as casualties in Uttarakhand were greater, added to this by the huge number of pilgrims in the upstream areas. Nevertheless, calamity is calamity and at this critical time people of J&K should be helped open heatedly by all corners of the country. It is also a subject for the meteorologists, scientists, climate watchers and environmentalists to study the cause of frequent incessant rainfall in Himalayan region within short span of time.
