The natural choice, June 2011 by HM Government Chapter: Reconnecting people and nature: focuses on the governments agenda of strengthening connections with people and nature. Ultimately the ambition is to allow greater access and freedom for people to connect with the outdoor environment and as a consequence increase responsibility for looking after their environment. The article expresses that nature benefits all humans by giving people a sense of place and identity, improving physical wellbeing through enriching daily lives, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol and reducing stress. It also states that human activity can, in return, enrich nature by increasing voluntary activity to improve wildlife and make well informed choices as David Attenborough stated in 2010 “ no one will protect what they do not first care about”. Therefore the article clearly states the need to embrace communities with natural environments in order to protect the living environment for the future. By increasing understanding and regular experiences with the outdoors will have huge implications for a positive and healthy future.
