“The natural healing force within each of us is the greatest force in getting well.” ~ Hippocrates Hippocrates is said to be the Father of Modern Medicine. Medical doctors in the West take the Hippocratic Oath, which states the doctor will uphold principles of this oath, such as to treat the sick to the best of ones ability, preserve patient privacy, teach the secrets of medicine to the next generation, to do no harm, and so on. Below are some of Hippocrates teachings and famous quotes. His work was the basis for modern medicine. I cant help notice that modern medicine does not seem to uphold these fundamental truths much anymore - instead making most modern doctors and health care operatives - hypocrites. My prayer now is that the true healers continue rising up, and a standard of compassionate, effective, safe, natural medicine returns as the norm. It is up to us to uphold these standards in our lives, and to make it known that we wont settle for less. May the era of unnecessary harm, human and animal experimentation and sacrifice, profit driven motives, and deceit now end. Thank you Hippocrates for the wisdom you shared and I now ask all medical professionals to remember his teachings and remember the true values and ethics of healing, medicine, and health care. Hippocrates said... “Natural forces within us are the true healers of disease.” “As to diseases, make a habit of two things — to help, or at least, to do no harm.” “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” “A wise man should consider that health is the greatest of human blessings, and learn how by his own thought to derive benefit from his illnesses. “If we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little and not too much, we would have found the safest way to health.” “All parts of the body which have a function, if used in moderation and exercised in labors in which each is accustomed, become thereby healthy, well developed and age more slowly, but if unused they become liable to disease, defective in growth and age quickly.” “Everything in excess Is opposed by nature.” “Wherever the art of Medicine is loved, there is also a love of Humanity. ” “The physician must be able to tell the antecedents, know the present, and foretell the future — must mediate these things, and have two special objects in view with regard to disease, namely, to do good or to do no harm.”
