The nearly non-existent instances of voter fraud the Voter ID law was intended to prevent should not be a justification for imposing burdensome requirements on hundreds of thousands of Texans (Secretary of State estimate) who for whatever reasons don’t have the right ID to have their votes count. By striking down the Voter ID law the federal court recognized the unnecessary burden this law placed on many citizens. State laws and limited local resources would be better directed towards improving Texas’ abysmal rankings when it comes to voter participation.
