The never ending question: which exercise gives the best result if you want to lose body fat and get lean at the same time? Unfortunately, there’s no one type of exercise that can give you both benefits at the same time. To burn body fat you need cardio, but to show either muscle “definition” or “lean mass/fit body” then lifting weights is a must. This is what it was shown in a study in which different subjects were put either to cardio, resistance training or nothing while keeping their habitual diet. The group that did the cardio reduced the most body fat, while the resistance group showed the highest lean-body mass. The good news is that both groups improved their cholesterol profiles.
