The new CBN Governor has started his job exactly where he suppose to. Bureau de Change operators shouldnt be having fun when our economy is suffocating..... How can CBN perform his monetary policy duty when BDCs are selling billions of dollars on the streets without proper identification of their clients? Now the New Cbn governor is all out out to cut the excesses of BDC and make them to conform with international best practices. We should all support the Governor on this. I will also urge the Governor to extend his searchlight on commercial banks too who are more comfortable doing round tripping rather than engaging in sensible businesses. They are as guilty as the BDC. And for the House of Representatives members who are trying to stop the CBN Governor from performing his legitimate business by summoning him for interrogation, I think they should be more reasonable and allow the guy to work. The issue here is not about oversight functions or law making but this is purely policy making which is within the purview of the Central Bank.
