The new anti-terror laws in Australia allow for a journalist to be jailed for up to 10 years for “recklessly” exposing special intelligence ops. So does this mean in principle, our new Australian laws specifically regarding the imprisonment of journalists are technically harsher than the UAEs? (Am I correct in understanding that although technically still part of the UAE media law (1980), the jailing of journalists was officially outlawed by an edict from HH Sheikh Mohammed, the ruler of Dubai, in 2007).
