The new distal tip of the current lava flow above the police/fire - TopicsExpress

The new distal tip of the current lava flow above the police/fire stations not advancing. Some lateral movement has been reported, but we saw none. It remains about four-tenths of a mile from Hwy 130 near the Police/Fire station. The northern lobe, which has recently ignited brush fires near Ainaloa is now stalled. Even the area where we have seen recent activity near where the north lobe broke away from the main stalled flow was inactive today. In fact there was very little surface lava activity anywhere along the 13-14 mile long flow... a few small outbreaks in the bottom mile and a few mile below the Pu`u `O`o vent and within a mile of the flow front... almost nothing in between, with the exception of a couple small areas near the geothermal pad. This is the least surface lava we have seen throughout the flow for several months. the winds are kapakahi again, as vog was very heavy over all the flow... with a huge blanket hanging over Pahoa.
