The new kid on the block, we continue our series for the voting of the rookie of the year. Its the baseball season of 1954 and the American League. In the National League Wally Moon beats 2 future Hall of Famers (Aaron and late Banks) to win the award. Well in the American League, another future Hall of Famer is beaten. When the award is given the letters NY are on the cap for the 2nd time in the awards history, when the pinstripe wearing pitcher Bob Grim wins the award. Grim post a record of 20-6 for the Yankees. Sidenote Grim only wins 61 games in his 8 seasons in the majors. Grim collects 15 votes. Here are the others Jim Finigan -Philadelphia -7-51-.302.....8 votes Al Kaline -Detroit -4-43-.276 .... 1 vote
