The new silver smithy at Foteviken – A Friday Story There is a history about the silversmith and the silver smithy at Fotevikens Viking Town. A long time ago there was a silversmith that worked in the Viking Town in the outskirts of the town. Every day the guards came over to the silver smithy and collected the Kings silver coins to transport it to a safer place. But after a while the juror and the King noticed that some of the silver coins disappeared and soon enough it turned out that the silver smithy was a thief who stole from the Kings silver coffer. And this was not accepted during the Viking Age so the law-breaking silversmith lost his head for his crimes! Soon enough a new silversmith arrived to the town, and even though he is an honest man the juror wants to keep an eye on him. So the silversmith moved in to the juror’s kitchen and worked there. BUT! Now we are building a new silver smithy as you can see on the pictures below, of course next to the juror’s house so that he still can keep an eye on the Kings silver.
