The new year always gets me thinking about change, about - TopicsExpress

The new year always gets me thinking about change, about intentions, and about goals. Im not a fan of new years resolutions (you can read more about that here: lanavernon.co.nz/blog/-new-years-resolution-to-set-goals-not-resolutions), but it is a great time to take stock of where youre at, and where youd really like to be, and set some intentions or goals around that. But heres the thing...so many people find themselves setting the same resolutions/goals/intentions year after year after year. Have you decided that THIS is the year...REALLY the year...that youre going to eat healthy? Lose weight? Cut out sugar/fat/junk food? How many times have you decided that before? And hows the old way of attempting it been working for you? I read a great post the other day from the lovely Belinda Tuki of The Honest Food Company (honestfood.myshopify/blogs/news/16529080-love-food-that-loves-you), all about making the choice to love food that loves you back, and it got me thinking - often our relationship with food really is a lot like unrequited love. We crave food that we know doesnt serve us - food that really doesnt love us back. We go there again, and again, and again...even though we vow every time that we wont do it again. Why do we keep going back? What is it that were really looking for? Next time you find yourself going back to food that you KNOW doesnt love you, just stop. Take a minute. Ask yourself what it is you really want. Is it comfort? Time out? Nurturing? Love? Whatever it is, remind yourself that you wont find that from a packet of Tim Tams, and choose instead to give yourself what youre really looking for. Choose to love YOURSELF enough to fully and completely meet your own needs. Choose to love food that loves you back.
