The newest member of the Tecumseh City Council is a very familiar face. John Collier, who served as mayor of Tecumseh for four years, was the choice of two applicants for the Ward 4 seat on the council based on his experience. The other applicant was Sherri Thompson Raney, an Oklahoma Baptist University faculty member. The seat has been vacant since Gene Crnkovic moved to McAlester earlier in the summer. Ward 1 Council Member Linda Farris made the motion to appoint Collier to the post, with Ward 2 Council Member Bob Stewart making the second. The vote was unanimous, and Parker swore Collier in immediately. Collier lost a bid for re-election in 2010 in a three-way race that Parker, the newcomer, won outright. Linda Praytor finished second and Collier third in that contest.
