The news of the Sydney siege and the Taliban attack on a Pakistani school would certainly weigh heavy on many hearts at this time. For the families of the two hostages who lost their lives I imagine Christmas will be especially hard. Keep these innocent victims and their families in your prayers. Pray for peace this Christmas season. Let us hope the surviving hostages will be able to cope with the aftermath of their ordeal. In times like these, it can be easy for our emotions to give way to hate directed at the evil people who perpetrated such horrible crimes. But I think of the words of Jesus as He hung on the cross: Father forgive them; for they know not what they do. (Luke 23: 34 KJV) Could we do the same? Love our enemies? (Matthew 5:44) In no way could a sane person condone or justify the sickening actions of these evil extremists, but to forgive them...? Thats a tough one. Food for thought.
