The news of the second Bronze Age timber circle discovered at Holme-next-the-Sea in Norfolk seems to have resonated with a lot of people. Its amazing to know for certain that its timber posts came from trees felled during the same winter as the wood used to build Seahenge. The story has reminded Imogen of her two visits to the original circle in 1999. By the second time, on Easter Sunday, the monument had been cordoned off and crowds of people stood around gazing at it. But the first time she saw it, in February that year, it was still little known. There were just a few other people on the beach with her - no archaeologists or druids! - and it was easy to walk freely around and within the circle. As an undergraduate art student at the time, Imogen had recently discovered analogue black and white photography. She filled one of her very first rolls of film with images of the enigmatic and evocative scene on the sands of Holme beach, and worked with them over and over again during her degree and post graduate studies. Once seen, never forgotten ...
