The news today is going to be filled with some of the richest people in the country and their lackeys denouncing those with average wages, for daring to ask for that little bit more, some job security. Of course, this cant possibly happen, because of the inevitable cast-iron logic of the market. As a counter to this ritualistic slagging-off and propoganda bullshit, I thought Id post what its actually like to be on a demo - youve got inflatables, flags, placards (how on Earth do the SWP afford em all, Ill never know), proper old-school socialist banners that make my heart sing, a sea of colour, meglomaniacs with megaphones, obscure socialist sects pamphleteering, a sense of fun and a carnival atmosphere even in the rain, but most importantly, you get a sense of a sense of possibilities. Unity is strength. You dont feel that watching the news at home. If you can, next time around, get out there!
