I know that there are people on my list that are against zoos, this isnt the place for that discussion. I happen to think that zoos, when appropriately run and maintained, can be an imperative learning experience, not just for us, but for the science community as well. NOTICE I said appropriately run and maintained! We wouldnt know a fraction about some of these animals had it NOT been for zoos. That being said, THIS shows UTTER IGNORANCE. The series of ignorant events that transpired here led to this mans death. FIRST being that he CLIMBED OVER A FENCE to THROW ROCKS at the tiger, which was posted all over the place was against the rules. SECOND being SLAPPING at the tiger repeatedly. SURE, go ahead and make yourself a threat! SMDH. THIRD, way to go you people WATCHING THIS, making all that noise, throwing MORE stones, and posing MORE of a threat. This guy fell into the enclosure, which was the TIGERS territory. Weve already established a KNOWN FACT that tigers and lions are EXTREMELY territorial. However, the tiger was more CURIOUS, than hostile, until the slapping and screaming and banging and throwing stuff. So it did what a tiger does, it takes it away to a safer distance, which happened to also kill the man. SHAMEFUL. That being said, I also hold the zoo responsible for NOT having plans in place for such utter stupidity. A properly operated and maintained zoo should have people making sure this stupidity doesnt happen in the first place, including throwing people who disobey the rules of the zoo OUT, ESPECIALLY around tigers.
