The next round of Arctic air is barreling down the Northern and Central Plains tonight, and will arrive in South & Central Texas around midday Wednesday. Winds will howl out of the north Wednesday afternoon at 15-30 mph with occasional gusts possibly exceeding 40 mph. There may be a bit of sunshine tomorrow afternoon, and clear skies for some of tomorrow evening, but it will otherwise remain cold and gray - with bouts of cold rain possibly mixing with wintry precipitation (POSSIBLE freezing rain Friday night/Saturday morning appears to be the primary threat for this prolonged Arctic event at this time) into the weekend. Computer models tend to underestimate the strength of the cold air. Temperatures may reach the low to mid 50s before the front arrives tomorrow and then will struggle to get out of the 30s and into the low 40s from Wednesday night all the way into Sunday morning. Lows Thursday morning could be as low as the low to mid 20s - with even a few teens in the Hill Country. Winds will remain in the 5-15 mph grange into the weekend, creating wind chills about 5° to 15° colder than the actual air temperatures. #TXwx #SATwx #AUSwx
