The next round of talks between the Anglican Church in North America and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod & Lutheran Church Canada will be hosted by Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary in St. Catharines, Ontario. (Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary and Reformed Episcopal Seminary have recently developed an agreement to foster partnership and support between their institutions.) The talks will begin on October 16 with a theological symposium: Militant Secularism: Its Cause, Cost, and Cure. The day begins with Matins and includes lunch. The first lecture, Greying Canadians & Americans Today: Products & Victims of the 1960 will be delivered by the Rev. Dr John R. Stephenson, Professor of Historical Theology at Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary, St. Catharines. He will be followed by the Rt. Rev. Dr Donald F. Harvey, Bishop Emeritus of the Anglican Network in Canada, who resides in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Bishop Harveys lecture is She’s Gone, Boy ... She’s Gone. The Rev. Dr. Joel D. Lehenbauer, the Executive Director of the Commission on Theology & Church Relations (CTCR) for The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod will speak on Jesus as Culture Warrior? A Cross-shaped Strategy for Being Church in a Hostile Culture. The Very Rev. Dr. Jonathan S. Riches, our Dean and Associate Professor of Liturgics and Theology will follow with his essay, Culture of Want, Culture of Ruin? The day will conclude with a panel discussion and evening prayer. The symposium is free and open to the public.
