The nights are very cold but the days are very warm. Our tomatoes - TopicsExpress

The nights are very cold but the days are very warm. Our tomatoes seem to be going with the day temps. (So do the hornworms.) We still have tomatoes, eggplants, chiles (note: next year plant far fewer chiles), a few melons, some cucumbers. Did I mention eggplants? Lots of eggplants. Luckily, we love them. Time to put in salad greens, brassicas, root veggies. Or late to do that, but everything has been late this year. Sorry, Jesse. Finally got floating row cover last weekend in Ben Lomond at Mountain Feed and Farm Supply. (Oh, do go there. They have the most amazing selection of, well, everything! We met them at the Heirloom Seed Exposition.) We needed the row cover to keep out the cats and the oak leaves so the winter veggie seedlings will have a chance. We are heading, we hope, toward permaculture. Hippies to the bitter end... I wonder what my mom and dad would think, looking out the huge, beautiful windows at their backyard and seeing that the whole area has been transformed into a suburban farm? I hope they love it. Its clouding over. Thank bees and hope for rain.
