The nominees for The GRAMMYs this year include many artists who defined 2013, from Daft Punk to Lorde to Jay Z to Robin Thicke. And given the Grammy time frame, plenty from 2012 are represented too, like endless hitmaker Rihanna and new rap superstar Kendrick Lamar. Vampire Weekend mightve been a shoe-in for this kind of industry attention by now, but trippy Tame Impala come as a genuine surprise. Jack White turned out the most famous version yet of the Little Willie John/Blasters chestnut Im Shakin, while heavyweights like Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars launched several hits into different categories. And this is where P!nks ubiquitous Fun. duet Just Give Me a Reason and Katy Perrys victorious Roar earn the most respect. Even rap had a monster ballad this season: the unforgettable Same Love, from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (and Mary Lambert). This will be a fun contest for sure.
