The non-native plant Linden Viburnum (Viburnum dilatatum) is becoming invasive in the mid-Atlantic region. A way to distinguish this species from other viburnums is to look for 2 to 4 small glands (dark dots) near the base of the underside of the leaf, as shown here. The fruit clusters are large and showy, and tend to weigh the branches down. A number of these trees were found October 16 in Cabin John Park, Montgomery County, Maryland.
