The noticed meeting this afternoon was between CM Yarborough and CW Boyer. While other Council Members were invited to come, no others came. The gist of the meeting was an attempt on CM Yarboroughs part to negotiate a compromise for neighborhoods in Arlington (his district) that have contacted him against allowing people to have backyard hens. He was attempting to pacify those against by seeing what options there were to allow a neighborhood to opt out. As everyone should know by now, if you live in a HOA or deed restricted community, theyll likely updated their bylaws to prohibit residents from keeping chickens. This is within their right as this type of community. CM Yarboroughs angle was what about neighborhoods that arent deed restricted or HOAs but may have bylaws. Could something be written into the ordinance to deny the right to keep chickens to these communities? So, whether hell propose it or not is up in the air based on a certain constituents behavior, but, if you live in one of the following Arlington communities, and want the right to keep backyard chickens, Id strongly suggest you reach out to him to let him know you support Ordinance 2013-415 before Tuesday, 11/12/13: Colony Cove Ft Caroline Club Estates South Fairways Forest
