The number of shelter transfer programs is rising every day as communities look for ways to reduce euthanasia of healthy, adoptable pets. At Yakima Humane Society we have great animal welfare transfer partners we work with. Listed below is the wonderful animal transfers from September: Yakima Valley Pet Rescue was able to take on 8 cats and 1 dog from our shelter. N.O.A.H. Animal Adoption & Spay/Neuter Center added 11 dogs and 11 cats to their center in Stanwood. Forgotten Dogs Rescue found a situation for 1 special dog. Three Rivers Rescue was able to take on 3 dogs. The Seattle Humane Society of King County was here multiple times and they transferred 20 dogs and 4 cats to their shelter. And last but not least Kitsap Humane Society found places for 3 dogs and 3 cats. We know that companion animal transport programs are one potentially effective strategy in reducing pet overpopulation and achieving our vision of ending pet homelessness in our community.
