The ♥ of the Bible We continue our journey into every word spoken by Jesus in the Gospels to help us all KNOW JESUS MORE NOW. We’re sitting at Jesus’ feet, listening to the greatest sermon ever preached: the Sermon on the Mount. Today, Jesus summarizes the ♥ of the Bible in 13 words: In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. (Matthew 7:12) Ask God to help you do that. Now. Please... ***************************************** Which Way? We continue our journey into every word spoken by Jesus in the Gospels to help us all KNOW JESUS MORE NOW. We’re sitting at Jesus’ feet, listening to the greatest sermon ever preached: the Sermon on the Mount. Today, Jesus gives us a stark contrast and makes it clear that we have a choice to make. His instruction is simple: choose your path carefully. WIDE IS THE GATE but small is the gate AND BROAD IS THE ROAD and narrow the road THAT LEADS TO DESTRUCTION that leads to life AND MANY ENTER THROUGH IT and only a few find it (Matthew 7:13-14) The great sadness of this world is that so many choose the me-first path of sin and selfishness that leads to destruction and that so few choose to follow Jesus down His God-first path that leads to life. So, how do we know which gate to enter? Jesus said: I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep. The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. (John 10:1-3) When the sheep didn’t quite get it, Jesus clarified that HE HIMSELF is the gate: I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:7-11) Want to really live? Listen to Jesus’ voice. Follow him. He’ll lead you away from destruction and into his pasture of everlasting love, joy and peace. ENTER THROUGH JESUS
