The official statement, as put forth by courts spokesman David Bookstaver, is that “Someone found something offensive and because we are a public institution, we erred on the side of caution and took down what was Scotch-taped to the wall.” That “someone” might have been a powerful judge who commissioned a lackey to complain on his (or her) behalf. Other rumors about the board’s removal are that the board looked “trashy,” so that the court finally decided to clean up an occasionally partisan, and always unprofessional, wall that shouldn’t have existed in the first place.
