The official verdict has just been released and BP has been found Grossly Negligent for the Deepwater Horizon spill (not that this is a major surprise, but many analysts had assumed they would be tagged with simple negligence. Its safe to say that my personal boycott of all BP products and gas stations (its not just BP, but also included AM PM convenience stores) will continue as long as they stay in business. What concerns me most is that we never seem to learn from these types of disasters (I see a similar type of situation brewing with the fracking controversy - there may be safe ways to do it, but they are often not used which combined with a small and ineffective EPA presence means that the only way that the situaiton will get resolved in the long term probably will require an envionmental disaster).
