The older I get, the more I realise how strong kind people are. - TopicsExpress

The older I get, the more I realise how strong kind people are. Kindness is often mistaken for weakness, so kind people often have to face the sad adversity of opportunists who try and take advantage of them. To be kind, you have to be knowledgable about the bad intentions of others, and continue to be kind, regardless. You have to be resilient. You must have compassion for those who lack compassion. There is nothing meek about those who are kind and considerate of others, they do what they do with very little recognition, surrounded by cruelty, but thats cool - because thats not why they do it. It is foolish to lump kindness together with naiveté. To be kind and maintain this kindness, you must be informed about the darkness of others, yet still focus on the light. Marketing research has found that individuals who are other-centred and not self-centred, lead happier and more fulfilling lives. Those who profit at the expense of others never truly enjoy their gains, they become gradually more restless and isolated, rattling like ghosts in their mansions, locked in luxury and entombed in cash, whereas the kind enjoy simplicity, and are enfolded with more love and appreciation like soft cotton, the older they get. Compassion is advanced. Empathy is elevated. The weak of spirit and those who are shortsighted and narcissistic cannot maintain the stamina that kindness requires. Those who are kind are not completely selfless, they know what true wealth is, and pursue it relentlessly. They are ambitious. They know that what they do feels good, they know that how they love begets more love. These people are my inspiration. They are warriors, and I aspire to their vocation.
