The one and only inspirational and teacher Clark Terry; known to double up with trumpet & flugelhorn, Nobody says a bad word about Clark Terry, he is a mentor and spokesperson for African American Classical music, he is incomparable. He played with the Count Basie orchestra in 1948, he moved to the Duke Ellingtons orchestra, where he became an indispensable part of dukes brass section on both trumpete and flugelhorn-the latter an instrument which had thus far enjoyed very little jazzattention. He was a studio regular all through the 60s and much of the 70s, he held down a chair in the tonight show band he was the first black staff musician at NBC. His vocal speciality is a tune called mumbles, which he loves to throw out toaudiences as an encore, a mushmouth assemblage of crazy scat. Clark is in ill health but great spirits residing n Pine bluff, Arkansas/
