The one spot on Ethans back incision that I mentioned last week is acting up again. We had to go to childrens hospital to see the neurosurgeon again today. They took some swabs and did bloodwork, and we have to come in for an MRI tomorrow. The neurosurgeon poked at his back lots to try and see what was going on and obviously that was pretty uncomfortable for Ethan. All the time that we were in the nicu, I watched them poke at his back, and poke him with needles for bloodwork and ivs, and I stayed strong and knew that these things needed to be done for the sake of his health. Well, today watching them poke and prod at his back and then poke him a few times with needles to draw blood, the strength left me. I nearly fainted as he screamed in pain! It took everything in me to get back to my van before the tears started flowing. Im not much of a crier, but I wasnt prepared for it to be this hard! I know I wont always be able to be strong, but I will continue to pray for strength to deal with every obstacle that gets thrown our way! Tomorrow they need to give him an iv for the MRI, and after his bloodwork today, Im not anticipating that being an easy thing for me to watch, but I know its necessary. If he isnt coping with being tied down in the MRI, they may have to sedate him as well. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we get this testing done to make sure there is not an infection again and no connection to the spine. Nikki
