The only Ray Rice related article worth reading. I am personally glad that the NFL and the Ravens did the right thing, however it should have been done when the act was committed. We all knew the video existed, regardless of who saw it! As a former teacher, I mostly feel the worst for the many of young athletes and children that were impacted by such an influential athlete. He had many fans, both young and old, and did so many wonderful things for the Baltimore communities. Ray Rice visited many local schools in the area and I can remember wishing he would visit ours. Although yesterday was a bittersweet day for Ravens fans, the organization as a whole, the NFL and those have been subjected to domestic violence, it was also a wake up call to us all. The haunting video of Ray Rice and his wife makes me absolutely sick as a woman, a mother of a daughter (and soon to be another). One moment in an elevator changed Ray Rices life (both business and personal) forever, as well as his families lives. I pray that the victims of domestic violence can only learn from this experience, and those who have been in this position seek the professional help thats needed. I pray that Rice, as well as his family can overcome this time in their lives and can rise above the medias comments. I hope that young athletes learn from this mistake, and think before they act. Lastly, I hope that the NFL gets their ish together and prosecutes others in the league that have done the same...video evidence shouldnt be what constitutes contract termination and removal from the NFL, or any sporting organization for that matter!
