The only theme of the National Speakers Association meeting I remember, was when Naomi Rhode was President. Her theme was the Privilege of the Platform. Ive always taken that privilege seriously. Although Im not Kanye West, and Ill probably never appeal to the masses like he does, I hope I always remember what a privilege it is to stand on a platform and lead a group of people with my words and my actions. This video actually frightens me. It shows how easily it is for a leader to encourage a crowd to act, how much power we can have while doing so, and how much strength there is in numbers. Notice towards the end one person yells out, Im sorry when he realizes the mistake the ENTIRE crowd made. Kanye, the leader who finally realized his mistake, should have apologized just as loudly as he did in humiliating the two concert goers. Two lessons: 1. Remember it is a privilege to lead.
