The only thing SCARIER than things that go THUMP in the night are things that go THUMP in BROAD DAYLIGHT, as I found out Wednesday morning. I received a text from Judy about 9:00 am saying that she was in the ER. All the message said was that she had fallen and hit her head at work. When I got to the ER, she was off getting a CT Scan. They scanned everything...from her butt to the top of her head. She was acting a little CONFUSED and I believe they werent exactly sure if for her that was NORMAL or not. So they werent taking any chances. While we waited for the Doctor to come in, she told me that she had slipped on a wet spot on the floor at the Clinic. Not wanting to drop what she was carrying, she tried a tricky maneuver which involved using her HEAD...and NO hands. Basically , she threw her HEAD into the WALL with such force that she left a softball sized DENT. She hit so hard that the impact knocked the heavy framed picture off the wall in the NEXT room. Then she wisely contorted her back into some bizarre yoga like position so that her HIP could absorb the remaining impact when she HIT the FLOOR. But she never dropped anything and even managed to preserve most of her SONIC ICED TEA-extra ice. The THUMP brought everyone running to help. They marveled at her dexterity , the hardness of her head, and the fact that her new non-skid shoes did not quite perform up to par...but my oh my they still LOOKED GOOD! Anyway, shes OK and thankfully, no permanent damage done ....that is if you ignore the crater in the wall of the NEW clinic and the destroyed picture. She was a little sore tonight, so she took a hot bath and hobbled to bed early. Her snoring is a little LOUDER than usual , but thats OK. No matter where I am in the house( or probably even down the block), I dont have to worry about where she is or about what shes doing ...at least for tonight! This incident has changed me. I cant seem to stop thinking about Judys Christmas present. Forget about rings and watches....anybody out there got a good solid helmet for sale? and maybe some rubber boots?
